Hanging Out Together: Designing/Making Mobiles for Older Adults
Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20, 1 to 4 pm
John Vaughn has been designing and making mobiles for over 40 years and has previously run two mobile workshops for adults and two art camps for youth. Now he is offering an art camp for adults aged 55 and above.
Mobiles are objects which combine techniques of art, 3-D design, simple mechanics, and some basic concepts of engineering. Participants will be introduced to several examples of mobiles which they can adapt for their own inspired creations.
Mobile construction materials, tools, and safety glasses will be provided. Participants may also bring small objects to include in their individual projects, which will be theirs to keep.
Open to adults age 55 and older. Limited to 12 participants.

Printmaking with Camille Santangelo
Tuesday, July 7 through Thursday, July 9, 10 am to 1 pm
Camille will lead this three day summer art camp in different types of printmaking. Using Linocut, silkscreen, mixed materials, and sun prints to develop prints on both paper and fabric.
Camille is a active volunteer at the Dove Block and teaches workshops and art camps ranging from digital art to sculpture. She specializes in teaching youth and is well respected by the participants
For ages 10 to 18. Limited to 15 participants.

Sculpture with Camille Santangelo
Tuesday, July 14 through Thursday, July 16, 10 am to 1 pm
Camille will lead this three day summer art camp in different types of sculpture. Using, Cardboard construction, bas relief, subtractive, and plaster to create sculptures.

Beginners Digital Animation with Emily Sugar
Monday, July 27 through Friday, July 31, 1 to 4 pm
Emily Sugar is an animation student at RIT and also works as a freelance animator currently residing in Rochester, New York. Her animated film “Specter Nectar and the Death Machine" was screened at The Dove Block Project Short Film Festival in 2025. Emily will lead the class in the basics of animation using a program called Blender. This will be a step by step Digital art instructional week using her knowledge and expertise. All items including tablets, mouse, and stylus will be provided.
Items for this workshop were purchased through a generous Philanthropy grant from Hobart William Smith College.
Participants must have working knowledge of a computer and the ability to follow directions closely.
For ages 13 to 21. Limited to 15 participants.

Mixed Media Drawing with Madeline Bartley
Monday, August 17 through Friday, August 21, 1 to 4 pm
This workshop is for all levels and presents a creative process to practice focus, mark making, and hashing out ideas through works on paper. Students will create a series of drawings and collages by using paint, stencils, color pencils, watercolors, and inks. This workshop will open your creativity by drawing to explore lines, textures, and shapes through instructor-led demonstrations. The instructor will share her techniques of building layers and experimenting with drawing tools to gradually develop with each work. A series of small 5-by-7-inch drawings on paper becomes a way to exercise your artistic expression. At the end of the workshop, participants will have created a series of mixed media works on paper. A supply list will be provided.
